Rochelle Coatney Rochelle Coatney is an accomplished drummer, timbalera, and percussionist. She plays Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz, blues, R & B, jazz, funk, and rock.
Rochelle is currently a core member in three steady projects. She is a driving rhythmic force in Hollyboots, a 7 piece Pop/Punk/Club/electronic band, playing Drums. Rochelle plays timbales in the Latin-Jazz band, Sweet~Heat.
Hollyboots The Hollybootsproject was conceived in 2003 as a studio production when composer/songwriter Chris LaShelle and singer/songwriter Holly French joined forces. Chris’s diverse, mad scientist intonations, twisted visions, and rhythmic ciphers, infused with Holly’s haunting hooks, provocative ideas, and effervescent presence, collide into the phenomenon that has become "Hollyboots". Together, they have three music videos and an eclectic array of 25 original demo recordings whose unparalleled genre has been referred to as “new-wave post-electroclash pop rock”.
Sweet~Heat Sweet~Heat plays a blend of high energy world-beat music that includes influences of Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and World music as well as "Latinized" Jazz standards in a highly entertaining and danceable presentation. Its music appeals to new audiences because of the band’s infectious enthusiasm. They can play cool or hot depending on the venue but always with a toe tapping groove.
